Sustainability

Sustainability includes a wide range of factors and principles, but without a sustainable approach, surviving for over 30 years would not be possible. Sustainability is also embedded in our business; we were the first Scandinavian distributor that incorporated excess management in the business model and over the years we have contributed with substantial ECO-gains and asset recovery.

Sustainability is also about open and honest communication, both internally within our team and with the external stakeholders. Finally, sustainability is also about longevity, and our history confirms this. We were here yesterday; we are here today, and we are prepared for the future.

1990
The beginning
Rotakorn is founded
  • Rotakorn AB was founded, becoming Scandinavia's first independent distributor of electronic components. 
  • There was a shortage of DRAM, SRAM, & 80486 CPUs.
1994
  • Shortage of logic circuits. 
  • Shortage of DRAM, SRAM, & 80486 CPUs.
1995-97

Revenue in 1995 exceeded 100 MSEK.

1998-00
  • The distribution of PC components increased very rapidly, driving revenue over 200 MSEK. Increased competition led to lower margins. Internet boom & bubble.
  • Widespread component shortage during 1998-99. Unrealistic forecasts resulted in significant surpluses in 2000.
2002
  • PC component distribution was phased out. Tight margin pressure and significant risks were contributing factors. The business was streamlined. The decision resulted in a reduction of turnover by just over 80% and more than 20 people being laid off.
